Do dogs go to heaven?

I just know this question will come up in the very near future.  One of our two dogs is not doing well.  He's almost 14 years old and has stopped eating.  We may be taking a trip to the veterinarian early next week to "send him off" before he starves.

My opinion is NO, dogs do not go to heaven.  But what do you think?  Will our pets be hanging around waiting for us on the other side of the "Pearly Gates"?

Yes. Romans 8:18-25

"(all) creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now."

But having the firstfruits of the Spirit, we (humans) are especially aware of this condition.

In other words, it seems as though your dog who has limited awareness, is nonetheless part of all creation that groans for deliverance from the suffering of this world.

And my God does not let the innocent suffer needlessly.

That's how I interpret Paul

Oooh... well done.

I sure hope that is the case.

Maybe I'll read that to my kids this weekend and have a little discussion about it.

Rev 19:11 (NASB) And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.

This, through verse 16 is about the second coming of Jesus Christ. He's seen riding out of heaven on a white horse. If horses are in heaven, why wouldn't dogs be, too?!?

A friend I work with mentioned that although heaven may have dogs, none of them will be MY DOG.

It's an interesting question.

Either way, we will miss Luke until then.

Sorry for your loss, Bob.

I like the thought of your dog running alongside that white horse...

I sure hope dogs go to heaven. I really miss Thumper, Buddy and Rex. It would be heavely to be able to be with them again. Mom
