Almost there

Here are a few pictures of the basement project in progress. I'll post up the before/after shots next week.

Yesterday we got the carpet back down and I put the baseboards back in place. We also built Ben's new bed and moved it into his new room after lugging the couch out of there first. Keli is stronger than she looks and was able to help me move the hide-a-bed couch out the back door of our bedroom, through the back yard, and back into the living room through the kitchen. She especially liked losing her shoe in the back yard while carrying the couch through Gracie's (our dog) "favorite spot". YUCK!

Tonight we should be finishing the counter top, then I'll start putting the last cabinets and book shelves in place tonight and tomorrow. After that, Keli gets to move all the stuff into it's new home. We also have to move another couch into the basement and start putting things back into place down there as well.

We are both amazed at how different things look already.

So did the tabletop guys have any probs, or was your leveling/shimming adventures a success?

Like the new blog layout, by the way.

So far so good. It's done with the exception of the countertop facing board and a few wire routing holes I still need to cut.

Thanks... It took me a while to get that layout working. I'm still not sure I'll keep the "read more" stuff enabled.

I'm digging the new look to your blog! Well done.
Nice job on the basement project as well. Maybe it's too late to offer, but I have a laminate trimmer/edger you're welcome to borrow if needed. Does a nice job of cutting and edging Formica laminate....assuming you're installing formica.

Thanks. I like the look as well.

I could have used that Laminate trimmer/edger. The seam we created is less than optimal. But it's all glued down and routed now. Just need to put the facing board on the front edge of the counter top. We are doing an oak facing board with a 45ยบ bevel. Then some stain and that's about it.
