New Years Resolution?

A friend of mine has been touting the benefits of making very specific 30 day goals to help change habits and teach ourselves new ones. He has had some success and I've decide to see what happens if I try some 30 day goals.

My first goal was set back on August 1st (No pop for 30 days). I finished that one, and have been drinking way less pop as a result in September. Now I'm making a few more, and you can all nag me to keep me accountable (if you are so inclined).

Here are my October goals.

1) No added sugar or candy (I add sugar to my cereal, oatmeal, etc. and I snack on candy fairly often at work). Since I like to eat, cutting out the extra sugar should reduce the empty calories I consume each day and let me eat what I want without worrying about overeating.

2) No pop. I'm still drinking pop from time to time and especially on weekends. I'd like to phase it out completely for a while. This has the same result as goal number 1.

3) 1 hour of solid work when I get to the office each day. I find that I tend to waste some of my most productive time at work trying to catch up on blog reading and such each morning. Plus, how my morning goes tends to set the tone for how the rest of the day goes. I have my most productive days when I get a good start in the morning. Yes, I am aware that I should not be doing non-work related things at work. I'm working towards that goal one step at a time.

So nothing earth shattering, but hopefully some basic goals that I can succeed at and that should encourage me to make some more lofty goals.

Possible future goals.

- Ride my bike to work for 1 month strait (coming this November)
- Read the Bible at least 15 minutes every day and night (30 minutes total) for 30 days
- Encourage at least one person every day for 30 days
- Play a game that B&B want to play every day for 30 days
- List something on eBay every day for 30 days (we have piles of stuff we need to get rid of)

Have a goal in mind that you think I should take on? Then speak up in the comments.

1.5 days down, 28.5 more to go. ;-)

I'm also 4 days into the 1 month of bike commuting. I hadn't planned on starting that one yet, but if I chain enough days together, I might try to complete that one early.

Bob: Donna had great luck selling a bedroom set on Craigs List. Maybe you could use it also to sell the extra stuff. Mom
