Full speed ahead!

I completed my Nishiki Single Speed bike last night. I rode it to work this morning and it worked great. The frame might be a tad small for me, so I'll have to ride it a bit more to see if I need to look for a larger frame. The rear wheel is also hopelessly dented and the bearings are pretty crunchy, but it works for now.

Here she is:

Here are the details and costs for getting it finished:
  • Bike frame ($20 at a garage sale)
  • New brake levers ($30 at Bike Masters)
  • White bar tape ($10 at Bike Masters)
  • Take-off saddle ($15 at Bike Masters... awesome deal on this)
  • Take-off seat post ($15 at Bike Masters)
  • Brake cables and housing (FREE from the Community Bicycle Shop)
  • Brake pads (FREE from the Community Bicycle Shop)
  • New chain ($20 at Bike Masters)
  • Front light (borrowed from my commuter bike)
  • Rear Light ($10 at Bike Masters)
  • Saddle bag (borrowed from my commuter bike)
  • Pedals (borrowed from my mountain bike)
  • Single Speed cog and spacers (Free from my parts box)
  • Front wheel (FREE leftover from my Marin stock wheel set)
  • Back wheel (FREE from the Community Bicycle Shop)
  • New Tires ($40 at Bike Masters)
  • Skewers (FREE from my parts box)
  • Elbow grease (FREE from ME)
  • TIME (Priceless from my family)

Total Cost: $160

Thanks... the best part was building it up. I've already got it on craigslist, but I doubt it will sell for what I'm asking. I figure if I can get the full amount, that would bank-roll another rebuild.

What can I say, I like to tinker.

If it doesn't sell... I'll be happy riding it anyways. ;-) Kind of a Win-Win.

Cool bike I've been thinking about building one like that for commuting on but haven't had time.

Thanks... It's a fun project too. It helps having a well stocked parts box too.
