Big News!

Yeah...April Fools!

Keli and I have been considering the idea of traveling several months out of the year in a fifth wheel camper then sticking close to home for the remainder of the year, yet still living in the camper. Saturday we decided to move forward on that idea.

In about 3 months we will take delivery of one of THESE. We still have to sell the van and go shopping for a used F450 (industrial sized truck) to pull it with. Then we will be putting the house on the market and working on a massive reduction of STUFF so that we can fit what we NEED in the fifth wheel.

So I have a lot of house work to finish up before we put the house on the market. But once all is said and done, we will be a mobile family. We hope to make our first long term trip in January and February of 2009.

Hmm...

APRIL FOOLS!

The idea is valid, but we are making no plans at this time to actually follow through in the near future.

My first thought, before clicking the link, was, "I do believe he's gone insane."

It would still be an interesting life, though.

One must be Sane at some point in order to GO INSANE. I've never claim to be completely sane.

It's an interesting idea, but hard to fathom with all the life style changes it would require.

The main financial problem is depreciation of the mobile home vs (usually) appreciation of a house, and no tax deduction on loan interest. Also, one day at trailer park can be $20-$30.

This was our dream to visit 49 states while homeschooling while Danna uses a satelite downlink for work.

One problem is the girls want to keep their friends instead of moving every month or so.

Just refi'd our house, appraisal dropped 10% from two years ago and is below what we've put into it. 8-(

Still grateful for family, house, food, clothing, etc.

Boy am I glad it is an April Fools joke.

But if you do decide to do something like this, just want to let you know that the barn is already full, so you won't be able to park it in there. Mom
