I was on my bike at 5:45 am this Saturday to meet up with a few friends in Bellevue for some breakfast at IHOP. The ride down there was great. I got the clothing just right and had a mild tail wind for the entire trip. The picture above was taken at 7:27am. The crappy cell phone picture doesn't do it justice.
After breakfast I headed back north for a LONG ride home. It was warmer and sunny at the start (but fairly windy), then suddenly the winds increased even more, the temperature dropped, and the sun went behind the clouds.
10 miles later, I was cold, thirsty (I left my water bottles at IHOP), and tired. I was also getting good at track stands because the wind was darn near stopping me in place when it gusted. I think I was topping out at 9mph most of the time. I arrived at Bike Masters at around 12:15. Bryan was there recovering from his frigid biking experience as well.
I hung out at the shop for a while, dreweled on some of the bikes, drank some Mt. Dew, and then put on every last bit of clothing I had with me for the ride home. Six miles later and I was home. My wife let me get showered and take a nap, even though she had the kids all morning while I was off riding. Thanks Keli!
