100 Miles of riding to go...100 miles to ride

Ok... so it turned out to be 108.8 miles and a new longest ride for me by over 18 miles. Combine that with the fact that I did it with only one gear (42x16 for those of you that care) and I'd have to say it was a successful outing.

We started at 8:00 and finished around 2:30 with an average speed of 18.1mph. It was a lot of fun hanging out with many of the biking friends I've made over the last year. A big "THANK YOU" goes out to Ryan, Steve, and several others that kept me motivated as I tried to hang onto the group during some of the faster sections. I could do ok on the up-hills and flats into a headwind, but on the downhills and flat sections with no headwind, I couldn't spin my legs fast enough to keep up. Then I'd have to hammer the next up-hill to catch back up, only to lose them again on the next downhill. Good times!

All-in-all, it was a great ride and everyone made it home safe and sound. That was probably my last big biking adventure until next spring, so farewell long fast rides and hello carbide studded snow tires. Now to try to keep some level of fitness through the winter.

Thanks again to everyone that took part in the fall century, and a big thanks to Dave and Dan from Bike Masters and Doug for supporting us during the ride and organizing another great event.
