Brandon with a real weapon....what was I thinking

This weekend I took Brandon shooting at the Nebraska Traditional Archers Rendezvous in Fremont. "Traditional" pretty much means no compound bows. Brandon and I will be shooting traditional bows. I have a longbow on order, and Brandon as a sweet new recurve bow in his possession. Ben will be shooting a Genesis Mini compound style bow.

Brandon has been shooting surprisingly well on his first two outings.  It has also been extremely enjoyable to spend time with him one-on-one. He is a completely different kid when his brother isn't around and it's been fun to talk with him and get a better idea of what is going on in his life. It's amazing how his personality changes when he is not around other children. It's been a blessing to see this side of his personality more clearly.

Next week Ben should have his new bow and we will go target shooting on Thursday (just Ben and I). I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with him as well.

Enjoy the slide show and a couple videos of Brandon's hunting expedition.

Great quality time with the kids. Teaching him skills he will use for the rest of his life. Patience, attention to detail, goal setting and so much more.

Yeah... it's the quality time I'm after for the most part. We wanted to find a way to let each of us parents spend time alone with one of the boys on a weekly basis. This looked like a good (and fun) way to do so.
