Frome A to B on 2 wheels

Last week I had a little fun playing with a helmet cam that a friend loaned me.  It looks much better on the original video files, but you get the idea.  Sorry they are soooo long.

These two show me commuting East along West Center & Mercy roads during rush hour.  Check out the potholes on Mercy road.  I had to hop the bike to avoid some that are over a foot wide and almost as deep.  You think those are bad in a car?  Hitting them on a bike would likely send me flying over the handlebars for some aggressive exfoliation.

From this point on, I'm riding on the Keystone.

This one is a bit funny right around 5:15 into it.

The poor little guy in that last video fell over when his dad told him to stay on the right.  So he looked right, steered right, and fell off his bike to the left.  He was really proud of the booboo on his forehead too.  He made sure I notice the band-aid.  When he got back on his bike, he gaped me with an impressive acceleration and looked to say "I like going fast".  I replied "I like going fast too".  It took a bit of effort to get by him safely.  Which brings up an important point for all you "go fast" folks (JOE) on the multi-use trails in Omaha.  It's always YOUR responsibility to pass carefully.  You never know when a little kid is going to steer right in front of you, or when somebody wearing headphones is going to break into a song and dance number right as you pass.  Soooo...SLOW DOWN.  We expect the cars to slow down when passing us, we should return the favor for pedestrian traffic.

YIKES! Those potholes are ridiculous! I drive past those same ones everyday so I can feel your pain! I strongly agree with your "slow down" comment also. You can never predict what someone might do so its important to stay cautious.

Hey, instead of messing with the crap around the hospital and the holes on Mercy, just keep going on 78th till you hit Hickory Street, turn right, take that to the Walmart/QT intersection of 72nd, jog left on 72nd, then go right and you'll have a nice downhill to the trail. Uh, picture better than my many words...
