The Godfather
A couple weekends ago I became the Godfather of Colton (my nephew and the small fella in white in this picture). It was a big honor. After the service, we went to dinner and Father Mario (the priest who baptized Colton) and the rest of the families involved. Father Mario is from Mumbai (Bombay) with a fledgling population of 12147100. Make sure you put your commas in the right place...that's 12.1 MILLION people. It was a lot of fun talking with him and learning how the sense of time (I'm definitely a Monochron) and the sense of individuality (India is a much more "Collectivist society" people group) is so much different in other countries.
Some of you may know that Keli and I are going to Guatemala at the end of April. We are blessed to have parents that are willing to watch the boys at our place while we are gone. That conversation with Father Mario was a good reminder of some of the social barriers that Keli and I will need to keep in mind as we travel to another country and to a completely different society than what we are familiar with.
Ben and Brandon also competed in the AWANA games last weekend. They got 3rd. They also started soccer practice last Monday and had their second practice yesterday. I rode from work to the park and enjoyed the 73ºF weather with Keli as we watched them practice. Good times!
