To Blanchard and Back
This slideshow is from the bike trip I took with several friends this weekend. We rode from N.P. Dodge Park (Phil and I started at my house) to the Pedestrian Bridge, then along the trails in Council Bluffs to the Wabash trailhead. Then we hopped onto the trail and rode all the way to Blanchard before turning around and heading back to Shenandoah for an overnight stay prior to riding home on Sunday.
The captions on the slideshow tell some of the story. But worth mentioning is that Monica rode her first 100+ miles, Mark had to patch his tire A LOT, Deb had some soda at a few of our stops (Don't tell her daughter), Monica rode faster than any of us could manage, we ate A LOT of food, Phil lost his blinky (and I found it the next day), and running over walnuts can be a bit scary.

great shots of a great weekend!
Great travelogue, Bob, and nice photos. It looks like you had a great time. Was Mark the only one flatting? Was there something stuck in his tire? I can imagine how frustrating it would be to have multiple flats in a short period.
I'd say that Monica has a two-speed bike. The speeds are "fast" and "stop."
Thanks for letting Chris and me tag along. It was a 68 mile day for me, which was a nice easy paced, flat ride on a Saturday morning.
Thanks Deb/Scott.
It was a great weekend. I was glad to you Scott and Chris along for part of the ride.
Marks tire issues were related to a failed tire that was replaced with a 32c tire in Shenandoah. That 32c tire was too big for his bike frame and we had rubbing issues. Add that to some flats and some poor patch jobs and we had one or BOTH of the wheels off his bike several times. It was pretty funny.
Monica likes to get where she is going in the quickest time possible. On Sunday morning she took off and was out of sight within a few miles of getting on the Wabash. We never saw her again. I think she was trying to get home in time to watch part of a baseball game her kids were in.
