Bike Camping and Rain

We took a Bike Camping trip a few weeks ago. It was a good "plan" but circumstances made for a challenging adventure. Brandon is still not too confident or strong on his bike. He spent some time crying in the middle of road before we even got out of our neighborhood. We made it there eventually, and had fun by the camp fire and playing at the park. However, it was an uncomfortable night of sleep. B&B both woke up twice EACH with night terrors and cried for a good 15-20 minutes each time. I had to splash water on Ben to wake him up enough to ask him why he was crying. He didn't know, and fell right back to sleep once he woke up enough to realize he was even crying.

At 4:00am Keli and I had to get up and put the rain-fly on the tent (oops...my bad). We then spent 5 hours listening to rain and thunder. I love a good thunder storm, but as it turns out, I don't like them when I'm in a leaking tent with only 1 or 2 hours of sleep.

At 9:00 I rode home in the rain to get the car. I brought it back to camp and we loaded up all our wet gear and bikes.

Next time, it will be cooler weather, Brandon will be on a bike trailer, and we will not camp if it's going to rain.
