Rain, Rain...

I'm using the rain as an excuse to hitch a ride home with Keli when she gets done shopping tonight. She had to pick up some groceries, so I'll just ride home with her, and leave my bike stuff here. That way I can bring the car in tomorrow, bike home tomorrow night, and strand the car here at work for a while. Plus, I have a 6:15am meeting tomorrow that requires a 4:30am wake up to get there on time when I bike in. This way I get to sleep in till 5:30 instead.

Of course using the car tomorrow is a slight bending of my "bike to/from work every day for a month" goal, but I think it's an acceptable compromise. I'll still be using my bike for transportation every work day this month.

After nearly of month of bike commuting, I'm starting to realize that a second car is not necessarily a requirement. Other than the occasional appointment or early meeting, I haven't needed the car all month. I can easily adjust those meetings and such to more appropriate times to accommodate bike commuting, and even rain and cold weather isn't much of a deterrent when I'm "properly motivated". Not having a car would be a "proper motivation" to bike in. I also have the option of working from home, taking the one remaining vehicle, or having Keli drop me off at work if I can't bike in on a give day for some reason.

But don't panic just yet (mom). I don't plan to make such a decision until I figure out if bike commuting in December, January, February is also easy enough to accomplish. It's an interesting thought though.
