I've made good progress on my goals so far. Other than the goof up on the sugar/candy goal, and the "one hour of work to start the day" goal (but I'm not giving up on those), I'm making good progress.
I've read 15 minutes in the Bible every night this month. I've used my bike to get back forth to work every day, accept when I had to drop the van off for service in Waterloo, but I biked home from there. I also haven't had any pop this month.
Results? I'm loosing weight, I'm spending more time with Keli because we read together then end up talking about our day, I've had less heartburn (because pop does that to me), and I'm starting to feel the benefits of all the biking. I'm also feeling optimistic about making progress towards developing some of the habits that I've put off for so long.

I know there's a bunch of stuff I should give up. I haven't had any negative side effects from the "bad" things, but I'm worried that one day I will. I'm sure I'd drop the last 5-10 pounds I'd like to get rid of if I stopped with the pop and sweets, but I'm not racing, so I'm not too concerned. And besides, now that I'm sufficiently motivated to get out there and ride more often for a good cause, I may loose that weight anyway.
Good job on your progress thought. Which would you say is harder; getting out of the habit of doing something, or picking up something new?
That's a tough one.
The "habits" that have had many, many years to establish themselves are pretty hard to break. I think the the 30 day goal is more a step towards breaking/establishing a habit. Kind of a small manageable step in the right direction.
Time will tell if any of these efforts become long term success. But I'm hopeful.
