Trucking along...

I've been a bit busy the last few weeks, so I apologize for the lack of posting.

Part of the reason I was so busy was that I have been working on procuring my next bike. The Marin has served me well, but I have 10,000 miles on it, and I wanted to try something new (I do that sometimes).

My new Bike is a Surly Long Haul Trucker. It's a full on touring bike and the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.

So here are a few pictures of my new ride (Mack... Think Mack from the movie Cars), and it's maiden voyage of 101 miles this morning (I started at 5:30 am).

Mack (yes, my bike now has a name) ready to depart

Amazing sunrise about 45 minutes into the ride

Rode with these guys from 6:30 till 7:20

The Bike Masters group that I rode with most of the day

Mack takes a break at mile 30 (71 more to go)

I'm glad through the different bikes you tried and discussed at the shop, you worked out the requirements and found a comfortable, fun, and multipurpose bike.

Hope this is the start of a long and satisfying relationship btw you two!

Congrats!

Nice!! If the weight and the possibility of the frame being not-so-stiff didn't scare me away, I would gladly had ponied up for a LHT or CrossCheck. They are solid, innovative frames that will probably last a lifetime. Maybe 2.

Have many fun rides on that beaut!
